Building a Brighter Future for Illinois
Frederick L. Walls
Candidate for Illinois State Senate, District 17
Your property tax bill went up again. Your block feels different than it did ten years ago. Nobody from Springfield has asked you about either one.

The Problems I Care About and What I'd Do
Property Taxes
Illinois has some of the highest property taxes in the nation, and they're uprooting middle-class families from their homes — people who did everything right and still can't keep up with the bill.
I don't believe the answer to a financial crisis is to reach deeper into your pockets. True leaders don't blame someone else for the mess Illinois is in — they find a way through it without raising taxes. That's what I'll bring to Springfield.
Parental Choice in Education
I believe parents are the protectors, providers and educators of their own children — and they should be able to fill that role without government interference.
That means parents deserve to know what's being taught in their schools, and they deserve a real, workable way to opt out when they disagree. These decisions shouldn't be made over a parent's head. I'll stand with families who simply want a seat at the table when it comes to their own kids.
Small Business Climate
I know the weight of this one personally. As a small business owner, I've felt the heavy regulations, the rising costs and the unfriendly business climate firsthand on top of some of the highest taxes in the country.
When the state makes it this hard to build something, businesses leave and take the jobs with them. Families lose paychecks that were feeding their kids. I'll vote against piling new mandates and fees on the people trying to create work here, because a state that drives out employers can't take care of its people.
Meet Your Candidate
First and foremost, I'm a son of God. I'm also a father of four, a husband of one wife, the middle child of eight, a journeyman carpenter of nineteen years, and a small business owner.
I'm not a lawyer or a lobbyist. I've spent nineteen years building things with my hands and I write the checks that keep a business running in this state, so I know exactly what these problems cost, because I pay the price too.

Moments on the Campaign Trail
Engaging with Our Community
This campaign runs on neighbors, not big-money donors. Every contribution goes directly to reaching more residents across District 17 — printing literature, putting up yard signs, hosting community conversations, and getting Frederick in front of voters face to face.
- $25 helps print literature for a neighborhood walk.
- $50 helps supply a team of volunteers.
- $100 helps host a community conversation.
Whatever you give, you become part of how this campaign reaches the next block.
